Following the crisis facing the unaccredited departments in the University of calabar this were the conclusion on the meeting held with Union leaders, President of the affected faculty/ departments, and Deans and HODs of the affected faculties.
FOR THE FACULTY OF ENGINEERING
The stepped down 300 and 400 level students are to pay 60% of next (session) year’s school fees. ONLY FOR NEXT SESSION
Registration of gss and entrepreneurship (GST) only for the stepped down students, is totally FREE!!!
All students (year 1 – 4) of the department of computer & electrical electronic engineering are advised to transfer out of the departments for now to other departments within or out of the faculty, until NUC verify those departments.
First and second semester faculty exams for the affected 300 and 400 level, will be taken this semester.
The VC assured the faculty 100% that by year 4, NUC shall give us full accreditation, and new admission letters will be issued by next school session.
Affected students willing to step down, are to step down to 200 level.
Before Now students of the faculty of Engineering lead a protest to the vice chancellors office kicking against repayment of school fees and retaking of exams but they have only been granted 60% school fees and must retake all year 2 exams this semester, the stepped down students would have to write 1st and 2nd semester exams in one semester.
The departments of Electrical and computer Engineering did not pass NUC resource verification so all students from year 1 to 4 in theses departments are advised to transfer out which means these departments would be suspended temporarily until the NUC comes to verify them.
FOR DEPARTMENT OF MASS COMMUNICATION
300 and 200 level students of mass communication which are also affected are to the department of linguistics and communication studies or the department of theatre arts and carnival studies effective from Monday 24th may, 2021
FOR THE FACULTY OF PHARMACY
Students of the Faculty of Pharmacy pursuing a Bachelor of Pharmacy who wishes to
graduate in the coming years be moved to the department of Pharmacology while those who
wishes to graduate with Doctor of Pharmacy are to return to 100 level and continue classes with the
present students of the Faculty
Students of the department of Physiotherapy, Fine and Applied Arts, and Music return
to 200l of the same departments.
That management will proceed rightwards to commence issuance of admission letters to
students of the affected faculties and Departments to reflect their course of study as soon as
transfers and regularizations are done with.
